About Me

Hello and nice to meet you!

Welcome to my blog. Here you will find my own brand of waffling and rambling about the life I found after turning 50.

Join me as I hobble (yup, I’m already dealing with old lady knees) down the path into crone-hood where I hope to give you entertaining and sometimes enlightening insights into my experience with The Mena , related dramas and WTF’s around being a middle-aged woman.

You might wonder what the “WTF’s” are that I referred to above. I will gladly tell you! Shortly after 50, I surveyed the wasteland that my body was determined to morph into and found myself wondering whether 40 years of period pains and PMS, pre-eclampsia during pregnancy, birthing a 4.8kg child, AND surviving a narcissistic asshole husband, wasn’t enough? Apparently, it wasn’t! WTF, man?!

During my research into creating and publishing a blog (my goodness, what a learning curve!), I found that many of the online blogging gurus cautioned that readers are not interested in the blog writer perse. According to experienced bloggers, it is best to just get on with the business at hand and produce the content the reader came for (is it though?).

Michelle Ebersohn, up-and-coming blogger, an introduction
Hi! This is me!

Who am I?

I am on the grownup side of 50, resolutely, defiantly single, and rather addicted to coffee. My temper is still as quick and fiery as it was in my twenties but in my dotage, I find that I don’t care as passionately about every little thing as I used to. These days, I often make do with only a withering look to bring those who step on my Sketchers, in line.

Butch & Sundance, Rescue Dogs

I share my home with my chef-son (no, tragically he never cooks for his mother!) and my six house wolves who scatter their fur everywhere (yes, I am indeed always in the market for a better, stronger Roomba!).

The two pictured here are my rescue pups Butch Cassidy and Sundance.  You may be interested to know that I also have a “Bonnie and Clyde” duo in my six-pack.  If you are thinking there may be a theme going on, you would be right.

My passions

I enjoy being creative and you can often find me occupied with some arty-farty little projects like this windchime. Further, I am often surprised by the fact that I can sometimes trade my projects for real, actual money!

Secondly, but certainly closer to my heart, is my love for words. The way words can swirl around you, painting unique-to-the-reader pictures of stunning beauty, gut-wrenching sadness, or heart-clenching horror, fills me with awe.

The singular individuality of interpretation that comes from consuming words, is unparalleled. And because of this magic quality of words, we can paint wondrous, hilarious, or breathtaking worlds with a few carefully chosen words. I love reading and I love writing so a blog seems like an obvious next adventure for me.

I have been told, by some kind souls who have read some of my ramblings, to write a book or start a blog. So, if you dislike what you find here, do blame them. And yes, there are the vague beginnings of a book lurking about in the corners of my forgetful mind…

In closing…

And…Just like that, my “quick” introduction has turned into 500+ words.  Consider this your one and only warning – I do tend to ramble on and on…

I invite you to visit often and hope you will often find something here to brighten your day!
